Dr Dimitri Demetriou

Dr Dimitri Demetriou qualified as a specialist general physician in 1978 and has been a practising cardiologist since 1985. He specialises in general adult cardiology, general medicine, echocardiography and his clinical interests include non-invasive adult cardiology, preventative cardiology, echocardiography, hypertension, and general medicine.

A National Heart Research Fellow in the field of hypertension, Dr Demetriou has extensive experience in both general medicine and cardiology and is a mentor for trainee specialist physicians at Sydney Hospital.

• He is a Member of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, the College of Medicine, South Africa and the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand, and a Visiting Medical Officer at Sydney Hospital and St. Vincent’s Private Hospital.
• He gained extensive experience in both general medicine and cardiology working with indigenous people in South Africa.
• Dr Demetriou, who is also fluent in Greek, consults in Sydney Cardiology’s City practice.
